We have had a lot of fun so far this month! Kindergarten focuses so much on literacy and the importance of learning phonics that we often forget how important play is for children. You may wonder, what is my child learning by playing in housekeeping? or the block area? or the water table? Well, all of these areas offer so many opportunities for language and social/emotional development. Children are learning to work cooperatively with others and solve problems that may arise. The housekeeping area gives children the opportunity to role play and help understand the life they are living in. The block area and water table give children an opportunity to develop their science and math skills. Take a look below at the many pictures of us exploring and learning through play in our classroom.
